Exchange programme

Exchange students are students that receive their diploma at their home university and only stay at UGent for a limited time as part of an exchange programme, for example Erasmus. Applicants that are not considered students in their home university should contact the department to request to be registered as a visitor.

Submission deadlines

Please consult the submission deadlines before the start of the application procedure for studies.

These deadlines do not apply to students who are coming in the framework of PhD studies and research stays. They should submit their application at least two months prior to arrival.

Language Requirements

Following rules and certificates are applicable for the faculty of Bioscience Engineering (different from the general UGent rules). Please note that these rules can be overulled by the promoter at our faculty in case of an internship or master dissertation.

-    TOEFL IBT 80
-    TOEFL PBT 550
-    ACADEMIC IELTS 6,5 overall score with a min. of 6 for writing
-    CEFR B2 Issued by a European university language centre
-    ESOL CAMBRIDGE English CAE (Advanced)

A certificate indicating English was your language of instruction is not accepted.

a. Applicants who have a diploma (Secondary Education, Academic Bachelor Degree, Master Degree) awarded by an (recognised) institution in the Flemish Community
b. Applicants who are nationals from or have obtained a bachelor and/or master degree in a higher education institute with English as mode of instruction in USA, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland or Canada, and in the latter case a certificate that the mode of instruction was English has to be submitted.
