ORBit participates in Waterloo Uncovered project

Press

This project aims at exploring the 200 year old battlefield using a combination of geophysical soil sensing and archaeological excavations. The latter are supervised by an international team of battlefield archaeologists and supported by (ex )British military of the famous Coldstream Guards. This regiment fought at Waterloo and defended successfully the farm of Hougoumont.
Some of these veterans have been wounded during recent missions overseas and their participation in WATERLOO UNCOVERED is meant to assist them in their rehabilitation.

The role of ORBit is to provide detailed scans of the gardens and lands surrounding the farm of Hougoumont. We used primarily EMI (both electric and magnetic signals) and in some areas also detailed magnetometry. These measurements are used to support the archeologists to select locations where subsequently excavations will be conducted.
