On 21/12/2016 the CESAM Platform organizes a launch event. This full-day programme aims at sharing experiences on collaboration with Latin America.
The event will start with a keynote speaker, Mrs. Alma De Walsche (Mo Magazine, expert on Latin America), on the theme "The role of Latin America in a globalizing world".
This lecture will tackle different topics:
- Brazil: still a valuable BRICS partner?
- The state of democracy in Latin America
- Relations with US, China and EU: shifting balances?
- Academic collaboration: bridging EU and Latin America
This lecture will be followed by a panel discussion with different stakeholders in the region.
After a walking lunch different sessions are organized with focus on a specific region/country (upon indicated interest by the participants).

Alma De Walsche writes about ecological themes (climate and energy policy), about agriculture and food and about world policy.
The last decades she has become an expert on Latin America, with a special focus on the Andean countries.
With the article ‘Guasuntos is a global village’ (Wereldwijd, January 2001) about  the Ecuadorian migration to the USA, Alma De Walsche won the Filip Decock Prize for Journalism in 2002.
In 2013, Alma won the FRDO Prize for her articles on sustainable development.

Participation is free but please register before 16/12/2016.
