Visit of Ghent University to China in the framework of the Mission of the Province of Eat Flanders to China from 29 May to 4 June

(23-08-2016) In May 2016, Prof. Dr. Kristiaan Versluys, Director of Education (Dean of Studies) of Ghent University, officially represented Ghent University during the Mission of the Province East Flanders to China.

Mission of the Province of East FlandersIn May 2016, Prof. Dr. Kristiaan Versluys, Director of Education (Dean of Studies) of Ghent University, officially represented Ghent University during the Mission of the Province East Flanders to China. He was accompanied by a small delegation from Ghent University that consisted of Prof. Dr. Luc Taerwe, Pro Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture and Director of the China Platform and Mrs. Inge Mangelschots, Coordinator of the China Platform.

The delegation from Ghent University visited 5 institutions in 3 different cities. With four of these institutions Ghent University already has a very active cooperation (Beijing Foreign Studies University, Tongji University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Hebei University). And with the fifth one, the prestigious Tsinghua University, UGent signed a cooperation agreement in the presence of H.E. Geert Versnick, Vice Governor of East Flanders during this mission.

During their visit to the above-mentioned institutions, the delegation came to a mutual agreement that the necessary steps would be taken to further consolidate the existing cooperation.
Furthermore, the delegation from Ghent University visited the Chinese Scholarship Council in Beijing, with whom UGent also has an agreement. The goal of this specific visit was to intensify the ongoing cooperation between UGent and CSC and to discuss the mobility flows of the CSC grant holders to and from Belgium.
