NB-Photonics: Multidisciplinary Seminars 2012-2013
Target group
Members of the Doctoral Schools of (Bioscience) Engineering, Natural Sciences and Life Sciences and Medicine. The seminars are organized for larger groups of professors, postdocs and PhD students.
Level
All PhD students
Aim and format of the Seminars
The two-hour seminars are organized on a monthly basis and cover a variety of multidisciplinary subjects crossing the fields of photonics, life sciences and nano-sciences. All speakers, national and international, are highly specialized in their field, but are asked to give a lecture with a tutorial character. All seminars have a tutorial character. In some of the seminars the doctoral student will gain deeper insight in his own field of research. In other cases he/she will gain insight in other fields and/or get acquainted with new topics that might be related to his/her research. This will broaden his/her view and possibly lead to new ideas and developments.
Each of the seminars has a very different focus, but always based on the latest developments in the field of Nano and Biophotonics and therefore a mirror of the state of the art in frontier research at the crossroads of photonic integrated circuits and lab-on-chip approaches, nanomaterials development and electro-optical particle manipulation as well as their application to monitor, characterize and image biological systems.
