Fireforum Awards 2011 huge success

On 17 November 2011 the Fireforum Awards were granted for the first time. 3 important awards were granted to activities in the Combustion, Fire and Fire Safety research group:
- Science and technology: Steven Verstockt (‘Analyse van multimodale video voor vroegtijdige branddetectie en brandvoorspelling.’): PhD (promoters: Profs. Rik Van de Walle, Bart Merci and Sofie Vanhoecke);
- Societal importance: Bart Merci (Postgraduate Studies in Fire Safety Engineering and International Master of Science in Fire Safety Engineering);
- Life time achievement: em. Prof. Paul Vandevelde.
