About
The Magnel Laboratory for Concrete Research was founded in 1926 by the late Prof. G. Magnel to anticipate the (at that time) urgent need for scientifically based concrete research. Since 1930 the laboratory forms part of Ghent University. In those early years, the Magnel Laboratory developed as an important research centre with strong national and international contacts in the field. Today, the laboratory still holds this position.
Being a research institute at Ghent University, the Magnel Laboratory for Concrete Research is involved in:
- Teaching and tutoring of civil engineering students (Education). Furthermore, events are organized such as workshops, international exchange projects, symposia, etc. (Events).
- Fundamental and industrial/practical oriented research (Research).
- Research and testing for the construction industry, certification organisms and public authorites (Scientific Services).
The laboratory has a quality control system according to EN ISO 17025 (BELAC no. 220) en is recognized by the Federal Goverment.
