Specific course requirements

Modern Trade Theory deals with the developments in international trade theory since the paradigm shift from comparative advantage to increasing returns to scale as determinant of specialization.

It's a theoretical based course at the master level which requires good knowledge of mathematics, micro-economics and international economics.

Students should be able to understand and make formal derivations of theoretical articles published in top level scientific journals.

In the lectures, some key contributions in the academic literature are discussed in depth. All the course material is available electronically on Minerva (UGent online learning platform).
