Ghent University delegation joins Belgian economic mission to Texas

(07-12-2016) On 8 december, Ghent University holds a genetics congress at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. The congress is part of the Belgian economic mission to Texas.

From 3 to 10 December, the Belgian economic mission to Texas takes place, accompanied by Princess Astrid. A Ghent University delegation led by Rector Anne De Paepe joins the mission.

The United States still have the largest economy of the world. Texas, in particular, has one of the most important economies within the US, which makes it a very important player worldwide. If you think of Texas, you may think of the oil and gas industry. But there's much more: IT giants such as Texas Instruments and Dell, organizations like NASA in Houston and the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical complex in the world.

The genetics congress takes place at the University of Texas Health Science Center, which is allied to the Texas Medical Center.
