Commuting after the implementation of Ghent’s new circulation plan

(05-04-2017) The City of Ghent’s new Circulation Plan came into effect on 3 April 2017. The plan’s primary goal is to reduce through traffic in the city centre.

Those who need to be in the city will therefore be able to reach their destinations faster. The car-free zone has been expanded and certain intersections have been ‘clipped’, meaning that (semi-)through traffic has been barred. The circulation plan divides the city centre into six sectors, plus a centrally located car-free zone. However, every destination is still accessible.

It is possible that your normal commuting route will change after the implementation of the circulation plan.

Use the City of Ghent’s route planner to calculate every route.
