Lecture by internet pioneer Robert Cailliau on 23 October
(Oct 16, 2012) In 1989 the WWW was discovered by Robert Cailliau (B) and Tim Berners Lee. On October 23rd, Cailliau talks about the less known history of this initial technology, tries to look critical at what is left from the original ideals and analyses the new goals.
The lecture is part of a series of lectures called 'The Pioneers of the internet' organized by Google, in collaboration with Ghent University and the Mundaneum.
Robert Cailliau is doctor honoris causa at Ghent University (2000) and Université de Liège (2009). More info about Mr Cailliau on the website UGent Memorie.
