Belgian American Educational Foundation: Fellowships for study or research in Belgium

The Belgian American Educational Foundation (BAEF) encourages applications for fellowships for advanced study or research at a Belgian university or institution of higher learning.

Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States and must:

  • either at the time of application be registered in a PhD or equivalent degree program in the United States,
  • or while holding the BAEF fellowship register in a graduate program (Master's or PhD) in Belgium,
  • or hold a Master's, PhD, or equivalent degree.

How to apply?

Applicants should make their own arrangements to register or affiliate with Ghent University.

The application forms can be downloaded from the BAEF website, application deadline is October 31, 2020.

Duration

Fellowships are awarded for a minimum of 6 months, but are usually awarded for one full year.

How much funding is involved?

The stipend equals $27,000 for one year for Master's or Ph.D. students and $31,000 for Post-doctoral Fellows.

The Foundation provides health insurance.
