Strategic initiatives (funded by Special Research Fund or Industrial Research Fund)

Interdisciplinary Research Consortia aimed at realising societal impact (IDC)

Via the Special Research Fund Ghent University is making a sustainable investment in interdisciplinary collaboration and societal impact of research by introducing specific research consortia (IDC), which all have been designated a co-ordinator acting as knowledge broker.

Business Development Centres (IOF consortia)

The Industrial Research Fund provides a supporting framework for collaboration between the Ghent University Association and industry, through the Industrial Liaison Network. This consists of a number of business development centers that group complementary research departments by application area or domain of expertise.

Using the Special Research Fund Ghent University supports several Core Facilities which bring together highly specialised and indispensable scientific expertise, services and research infrastructure.
