Language Requirements for Exchange Students
The following information is for students who do not have a proof of language knowledge yet.
Ghent University is located in Flanders (Belgium), where the official language is Dutch. The official language of instruction at Ghent University is also Dutch. However, a growing number of courses is taught in English. Please check the online course catalogue to find out in which language of instruction the course you want to register for is taught in. (see the course catalogue).
As not all incoming students have a sufficient knowledge of Dutch at the start of their study, Ghent University requires a good knowledge of English in order to communicate and function in an academic context.
