Studying at Ghent University
Language of instruction
The language of instruction at Ghent University is Dutch. Therefore, all bachelor programmes are taught in Dutch. However, as mentioned below, UGent does offer a whole range of international courses instructed in English. The common language of the doctoral programme is English. Good language proficiency is absolutely necessary and formally required.
- A crucial part of admission are the language requirements per study level.
- Language tests and preparatory language courses are possible at the University Language Centre.
Study programmes
Besides a good language command, a well-motivated study choice is highly important. Ghent University offers one of the broadest range of study opportunities in Flanders: from the undergraduate level (bachelor) to postgraduate level (master and advanced master level), to even doctoral degree (PhD), all fully accredited programmes.
