Studying at Ghent University

Study programmes

Ghent University offers one of the broadest range of study opportunities in Flanders.

All degree studies can be done from the undergraduate level (bachelor) until postgraduate level (master and subsequent master level), and even doctoral degree (PhD) ; leading all to a recognized academic degree. Apart from these programmes, there are courses that may lead to a specific certificate awarded by Ghent University. 

International courses

International courses are study programmes taught in English. At Ghent University there are different types of international programmes, some are awarded by a degree, others are awarded by a certificate.

  • Advanced master programmes (leading to a master degree)

Language of instruction

The language of instruction at UGent is Dutch. Some master and advanced master programmes are instructed in English. The common language in the Doctoral Schools is English.

Language tests

Language tests (Dutch, English or French) are possible at the University Language Centre.

These language tests are held on fixed days and test reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.

Fee: 50 euro.
