Ghent University and abbreviations
The correct use of the university's name has been laid down by the Management Committee.
- in Dutch: Universiteit Gent
- in French: Université de Gand
- in German: Universität Gent
- in English: Ghent University
Customarily, the abbreviation 'UGent' is only used in Dutch.
There is only a Dutch logo - no versions in other languages are allowed.
English translation
International communication generally happens in English.
The correct translations of study programmes and their course units are available via the course catalogue.
The Management Committee has laid down the English translation of the prevalent UGent terminology. Also, the Education and Examination Code contains a list of the most commonly used terms in education.
