TITLE

Research in antigen-driven immune response in auto-immune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis.

SUMMARY

Autoimmunity is associated with antibodies that react with self-antigens. Auto-immunity is very complex and a lot is yet to be clarified in autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

It is well known that in serum of patients with RA a lot of immune complexes are found. The identity of these immune complexes on the other hand, still needs to be elucidated.

Further research in the role of T-cells and their triggers is also necessary to obtain a clearer view in the onset or preservation of the inflammatory process in rheumatoid arthritis.
