About us

In 1908, the world’s first academic education on Physical Education was established at Ghent University. Now, the movement and sport scientists in Ghent are united in one department of more than 100 members. The department is known as a dynamic team with an excellent reputation in education and high-class scientific research. The Head of the Department of Movement and Sports Sciences is Prof. dr. Greet Cardon.

The department fulfils its three academic roles: education, research and services.

The department members are mainly active in teaching in the bachelor in Physical Education and Movement Sciences, the educational master in Physical Education and the master in Movement and Sports Sciences.
