Biostatistics Unit

Objectives

The primary purpose of the Biostatistics Unit of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of Ghent University is to deliver statistical advice and services to researchers of this faculty and the Ghent University Hospital. This implies advice with respect to study design, choice of appropriate statistical methods, sample size and power issues, support in data analyses, interpreting results, etc...

The Biostatistics Unit further organizes internal courses and training sessions dedicated to specific statistical methods and software.

Directions

The Biostatistics Unit is located at the Ghent University Hospital, De Pintelaan 185 4K3. To enter the office building, please take the entrance of building B3 and enter building K3 on the 4th floor. You can find the Biostatistics Unit at the left wing of the corridor, room 140.029.

Statistical Support of Master Theses

The Biostatistics Unit can be consulted for the support of Master theses. To make an appointment, send an e-mail to statcel@ugent.be. Please note that only advice is given and no statistical analyses are performed. It is strongly appreciated and recommended that the promoter joins the student for the first meeting.

Courses and Training Sessions

The Biostatistics Unit of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences offers two 4-day courses “Statistical analyses with IBM SPSS 22 (basic and advanced)” in September/October 2015. In January 2016, a 4-day course “Linear Mixed Models in SPSS” is also organized by the Biostatistics Unit. Please note that the course language for all courses is Dutch.
