Economics, Ecology and Demography

The research unit Economics, Ecology, Demography (EED) unites different thematic research projects in the areas of economic, ecologic and demographic history. EED seeks to cooperate with sociologists, geographers and economists from research units in and outside Ghent University. Cross-border, international and multi-disciplinary cooperation, transcending the traditional periodical classifications, leads to new and fundamental research results. Starting from a socio-economical approach, this research unit covers sub-areas closely linked to the study of demographic structures, of material culture, of agrarian technologies and of changes in ecology and landscape.
