Participating Groups
Research Teams of the Center
The Center brings together seven research teams (fifteen professors) from four different faculties: Engineering, Bioscience engineering, Sciences and Pharmaceutical sciences. Please find an overview of all professors here.
Faculty of Engineering and Architecture
prof. Roel Baets, prof. Peter Bienstman, prof. Geert Morthier, prof. Gunther Roelkens, prof. Dries Van Thourhout
prof. Kristiaan Neyts, prof. Jeroen Beeckman, prof. Filip Beunis
Faculty of Sciences
prof. Zeger Hens- Lumilab: Electro- and photoluminescence
prof. Peter Dubruel
Faculty of Pharmaceutical sciences
prof. Kevin BraeckmansFaculty of Bioscience engineering
prof. Els Van Damme, prof. Erik Manders, prof. Andre Skirtach, prof. Patrick Van OostveldtAssociated Partners of the Center
Apart from the core teams the Center will have a number of associated partners within UGent, extending the number of faculties connected to the Center by two more faculties (Medicine and Veterinary Medicine). These partners do not focus their own research on nano- or biophotonics but have a strong collaborative link with one or several of the partners on a nano- or biophotonics subject. Either they provide an important technology for the Center or they are involved in a key application of nano- or biophotonics. The set of associated partners is expected to vary dynamically over time. The initial set of associated partners will be:
- prof. Christophe Detavernier (Department of solid-state physics, Coating and contacting of nanostructures research group -COCOON)
- prof. José Martins (Department of organic chemistry, NMR and Structure Analysis research group)
- prof. Benjamin Schrauwen (Department of electronics and information systems, PARIS-group)
- prof. Patrick Segers (Biofluid, Tissue and Solid Mechanics for Medical Applications Research group - bioMMeda)
- prof. Ria Cornelissen (Department of basic medical sciences, Cell/biomaterial interactions and tissue engineering)
- prof. Wim Bogaerts (Photonics Research Group, Photonics Research Group)
- prof. Meint Smit (Part-time guest professor in Department of information technology, Photonics Research Group and full professor at Technical University of Eindhoven)
- prof. Niek Sanders (Laboratory of Gene Therapy)
- prof. Patrick De Visschere (Department of electronics and information systems, BEOC-group)
