Cleantech Cluster Gent launched
(18-05-2016) On May 18, 2016 the Cleantech Cluster Regio Gent was launched.
Sustainability and circular economy are catch-all terms, but in the Ghent region they sound anything but hollow. Companies, institutions, governments, intermediary organizations and citizens resolutely opt for the path of the future. Society is gratefully picking the fruits of their practical, ingenious and sustainable solutions.
Ghent University, together with the City of Ghent, the port of Ghent, the Province of East Flanders and the Provincial Development Agency of East Flanders have joined forces to combine this knowledge, experiences and opportunities and transforming it into an urban cleantech cluster world in Flanders. The cleantech cluster region Ghent goes for sustainability with vigor. This requires a multi-sectoral approach, in terms of energy, materials, water and mobility.
The Cleantech Cluster Regio Gent can provide an answer to some of the challenges the Ghent region is facing: the decline in urban and industrial CO2 emissions, lower energy consumption and local production of renewable energy.
The cluster can also make them think about challenges in terms of mobility and work of the transformation from a linear to a circular economy in which waste streams are used as raw materials.
