The department has 6 research groups each with their facilities
- DRAFT (Design, Research and Feasibilty of Thin Films)
- CoCooN (coating and contacting of materials)
- LUMILAB (photo- and electroluminescence of sulfide phosphors)
- DiSC (semiconductor defects)
- EMR (analysis of paramagnetic defects in solids)
- DyNaMat (dynamics of functional nano materials)
