Ghent University wants to make a special effort during this celebratory year concerning the social themes of oncology, healthy diets, and traffic safety.

Thanks to the ‘Zorg voor de samenleving’ (Care for Society) Fund, anyone can contribute to research projects on these themes.

Care for Patients: rehabilitation and reintegration, support for cancer patients

Cancer remains one of the most prominent illnesses in our society. Various Ghent University research groups and UZGent clinical services have amassed a great deal of expertise in the field of cancer research and treatment.

Care for a Safe Society: Traffic Safety and Prevention

As a university in the largest student city, Ghent University wants to co-invest in a safer society, including in traffic, with additional attention and care for weaker road users.

Ghent University’s various faculties and disciplines actively research the theme of ‘traffic safety and prevention’.

Care for a Safe Society: Healthy, Safe Diets/Sustainability

Many people are searching for safe, healthy diets. And yet, the opinions vary in the extreme as to what exactly safe and healthy means. Ghent University enters into a dialogue with the citizens regarding the theme of a ‘safe, healthy diet’, and we want to focus intently on this.
