Prof. Kristien Michielsen and Brian Sheridan (ICRH, Ghent University) presented ANSER findings examining the “Current evidence on COVID 19 and maintaining essential sexual and reproductive health services” during the WHO/UNFPA joint sub-regional technical consultation on SRH in the context of universal health coverage.

On March 10th and 11th, the WHO/ UNFPA joint sub-regional technical consultation took place involving teams comprising government representatives and experts from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Republic of Moldova and Serbia.

The ANSER presentation outlined the effect of the coronavirus pandemic on sexual and reproductive health services worldwide and the potentially severe consequences if efforts to maintain these essential services are not made. Next Professor dr. Kristien Michielsen shared details of the I-SHARE Survey, which examines the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on sexual and reproductive health at national and global level, and presented initial findings from selected participating countries. Research for the presentation was completed with the help of Prof. Olivier Degomme and Fiorella Farje De la Torre.
