Bio
Fien Minnens is an assistant at the Department of Agricultural Economics, since 2016. She holds an MSc Degree in Bioscience Engineering from Ghent University. Prior to starting her PhD journey, she worked for a Belgian NGO on a development education project. Her current research focuses on consumer perceptions on food integrity issues, such as food fraud and food scandals. As an assistant, she also tutors students for master dissertations, project work and assignments.
Research
Fien currently studies consumer and stakeholder perceptions on food integrity issues. She is active in the EU project FOODINTEGRITY where she studies stakeholders’ attitudes towards information sharing to prevent and detect food integrity issues. Fien was also involved in the EU project ECsafeSEAFOOD, studying consumers’ acceptance of an online tool on the risks and benefits of their seafood consumption.
