Yemane Asmelash Gebremariam was born in Ethiopia, BSc (Agricultural Extension) & MSc (Rural Development & Agricultural Extension) from Haramaya University. He has been working as a Lecturer in Bahir Dar University (BDU), College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences and Department of Rural Development and Agricultural Extension. Mr.Yemane is currently a PhD student at the University of Ghent, Faculty of Bio-Sciences Engineering, Department of Agricultural Economics.
Research
His research topic focuses on Understanding Agricultural Extension and the Role of Agricultural Innovation Platforms(AIPs) in North West Amhara, Ethiopia. It has four specific objectives namely: (1) Analyze the dynamics and experience of a transition of Ethiopian agricultural extension system from Transfer of Technology (ToT) to Agricultural Innovation System (AIS) (2) Study farmers’ involvement and interaction in the extension system; (3) Analyze IPs of rice crop and irrigation cases in the study district areas of Western Ethiopia; (4) Investigate the interaction of AIPs with regional and national actors.
The research is undertaken through the support of the BDU-IUC project, funded by VLIR.
