New Artemia species named after Prof. em. Patrick Sorgeloos

Recent phylogenetic anaysis on Artemia populations from Tibet and Kazachstan lead to the description of 2 new species. One of them was named Artemia sorgeloosi in honour of Prof em Patrick Sorgeloos for "... his contribution to promote Artemia research, and for training generations of young scientists from around the world.". This is undoubtedly the ultimate mark of recognition for Patrick's unrelentless efforts to advance knowledge and applications of this unique organism.
