In vitro cloning is still a challenge for a great number of tree species.

The adult characteristics of the mother material constitute one of the largest problems: the initiated shoots refuse to grow in vitro and are unable to make new roots.

Young seedlings, which are juvenile by definition, often do not show these problems.


We took up the challenge to clone recalcitrant tropical and temperate trees and shrubs.
