On Tuesday the 25th of May, Bio-engineers for Diversity organises a panel discussion on the representation of female experts in Belgian press, with Katrien Kolenbergs (UA, VUB, KUL), Lien Tavernier (VRT NWS), and Tine Dezeure (UGent).

This event will be followed by a networking session of 30 minutes during which you can get to know the speaker of your preference.

About the speakers

Katrien Kolenberg is a professor at UAntwerpen and VUB and the STEM-coordinator at the KULEUVEN. She is a space-fanatic specialized in astrophysics. She is an active science communicator. She has talked about her work in several media programs (e.g. De Wereld van Sofie, Berg en Dal) and gave her own TED-talk on stellar sounds. Katrien is also a cellist and a painter and uses these skills in her science works.

Lien De Tavernier worked as a research fellow for the Leuven Institute of International and European Studies. She is currently active as a researcher and editor-in-chief for the radio news programs ‘De Ochtend’ & ‘De Wereld Vandaag’ (VRT, Flemish Public Broadcaster). She is researching and preparing current affairs items, from interviews with politicians to experts.

Tine Dezeure has 10 years of experience as a journalist working for the Flemish Public Broadcaster VRT. Four years ago she changed carreers and started working for the Ghent University. She is currently working as public spokesperson and press attaché for the university.
