The symposium will be focused on microbial strategies to capture and convert organics from wastewater into more valuable resources. Some top-notch speakers will share their latest insights in this R&D area, ranging from microbial ecology to technology, and from academia to industry.

Keynote speakers

  • Prof. Dr. Gavin Collins, Professor Environmental Microbiology at PI Microbial Ecophysiology & EcoEngineering, School of Natural Sciences, NUI Galway, Ireland
  • Prof. Dr. ir. Willy Verstraete, Professor emeritus at Center for Microbial Ecology and Technology, Ghent University, Belgium

Four additional speakers will present their relevant work from an academic and industrial point of view.

The symposium is chaired by Dr. ir. Jo De Vrieze (Center for Microbial Ecology and Technology, Ghent University).
