Prof. Eveline Volcke awarded by the International Water Association

(22-09-2022) Professor Eveline Volcke has been recognised for her long-term extraordinary contributions to the global water sector and for her volunteer work contributing to the International Water Association (IWA).

During the World Water Congress & Exhibition, Professor Volcke was recognised as Distinguished Fellow of the International Water Association, an honorific recognition for her long-term extraordinary contributions to the global water sector and leadership role performed in supporting IWA’s mission and objectives. She was also awarded the outstanding service award for her impactful and consistent volunteer work contributing to the IWA.

Eveline Volcke has a specific expertise in biological wastewater treatment, considering innovative technologies (e.g. anammox-based nitrogen removal, granular sludge) and sustainability aspects such as greenhouse gas emissions.

Eveline Volcke is the founder and head of the Biosystems Control research group, focusing on efficient and sustainable process design and control. She studies processes and reactors from a process engineering perspective, applying a combination of physical-based modelling and simulation, full-scale monitoring campaigns and lab-scale experiments.
