PhD research @ REMOSA

Unsolicited applications

REMOSA is continuously in search of motivated PhD students to join current research, or to explore new research lines. We focus on quantitative remote sensing and spatial analysis at the landscape and regional level. Exemplar topics are:

  • Fusion of multi-source image information (optical, radar, Lidar)
  • Object-based image analysis for environmental landscape studies
  • Remote sensing-based urban heat assessment and flood mapping
  • GIS-based risk assessment of fires and landslides in forested landscapes
  • Spatial wildlife habitat characterization to support conservation management
  • ...

Other subjects might also be considered, provided that they have a sizeable quantitative component. Whenever appropriate, co-promoters who are able to provide complementary expertise will be considered.

Interested candidates should send (by e-mail) a motivation letter, full CV featuring at least two reference persons, and a draft research proposal including problem statement, research objectives and methodology.

REMOSA has no research budget of its own. Ghent University has (limited) scholarships available although competition is very strong. More info on funding opportunities at Ghent University can be found here.
Candidates are also strongly advised to inquire about funding with their national authorities, or with EU funding programmes.
