Analytical technology
Research
The analytical technology supports the research performed at campus Kortrijk. Analytical methods are being developed and validated to meet the specific needs of ongoing research, such as:
- Determination of PAH’s and biocides in rainwater runoff of building materials;
- Determination of heavy metals in soil, plants and water to monitor phytoremediation;
- Determination of heavy metals in fish (accumulation in fish cultivated in a former gold mine);
- Identification of plastics and additives;
- Determination of additives in plastics and textiles.

Services
We provide support to public and private entities. We offer a broad spectrum of analytical technology for testing, process engineering and quality and quantity services for water, environment (water, soil), plastics, textiles:
- Water quality parameters (BOD, COD, Hach test kits);
- Sample preparation (Soxhlet extraction, Kjeldahl destruction, microwave digestion, dry ashing);
- Element analysis (ICP-OES);
- Molecular identification and quantification (GC, GC-MS, LC, FTIR, UV-VIS, fluorescence);
- Particle size distribution;
- Viscosimetry.
