Analytical technology

The analytical technology supports the research performed at campus Kortrijk. Analytical methods are being developed and validated to meet the specific needs of ongoing research, such as:

  • Determination of PAH’s and biocides in rainwater runoff of building materials;
  • Determination of heavy metals in soil, plants and water to monitor phytoremediation;
  • Determination of heavy metals in fish (accumulation in fish cultivated in a former gold mine);
  • Identification of plastics and additives;
  • Determination of additives in plastics and textiles.

We provide support to public and private entities. We offer a broad spectrum of analytical technology for testing, process engineering and quality and quantity services for water, environment (water, soil), plastics, textiles:

  • Water quality parameters (BOD, COD, Hach test kits);
  • Sample preparation (Soxhlet extraction, Kjeldahl destruction, microwave digestion, dry ashing);
  • Element analysis (ICP-OES);
  • Molecular identification and quantification (GC, GC-MS, LC, FTIR, UV-VIS, fluorescence);
  • Particle size distribution;
  • Viscosimetry.
