Lesley Hustinx is Associate Professor at the Centre for Social Theory, Department of Sociology at Ghent University. Her primary research fields are social theory, political sociology and third sector research. Her research focuses on the consequences of late modern social change for citizenship and voluntary solidarity. Current research projects focus on questions of citizenship and human rights in the context of globalization and increased migration, both from the lived experience of migrants themselves and from a governmentality perspective.

Lesley Hustinx received her Ph.D. from the University of Leuven and was a visiting fellow at the London School of Economics, the University of Pennsylvania, and the University of Southern California. She is a board member of the International Society for Third Sector Research (ISTR), serves on the editorial board of Voluntas, and is an expert member of the High Council for Volunteers of the Federal Government.
