Els Bekaert is a PhD researcher in Migration Economics at the Department of Economics of Ghent University and PhD researcher at the United Nations University on Comparative Regional Integration Studies (UNU-CRIS). Her research focuses on the factors shaping migration aspirations and decisions, with particular attention for the role of climate change, environmental stress and health(care). She is also part of the CliMigHealth International Thematic Network dedicated to understanding and addressing how climate change, migration and health(care) interact.
