Partner Universities

The China Platform also directs the demands for cooperation by departments and faculties with Chinese partners to the right Chinese institutions and provides information about the different forms of cooperation.

Ghent University has concluded bilateral agreements with several Chinese universities both in the fields of research and education.

In order to guarantee the continuity and to activate new initiatives on the one hand, and to facilitate mobility of staff and students on the other, the International Relations Office provides funding.

This budget is divided between the faculties, with management at central level. It is the decision of the faculty, in accordance with central guidelines, which activities within the framework of the ‘Cooperation Agreements’ can be supported.

There are different types of agreements. The 2 main types are:

  • A Memorandum of Understanding is an institutional, general and formal agreement, concluded for a max. of 3 years
  • A Cooperation Agreement creates opportunities for student and staff mobility

An updated of the overview of cooperation agreements is in process and due end of March at the latest.
