(20-03-2017) Biostimulants and biopesticides from organic waste streams

witloofwortelsProfessors of the Ghent university will investigate if organic waste streams from agriculture and horticulture contain bioactive molecules that protect plants against diseases, pests and abiotic stress. The project entitled Bio2Bio is funded by the Flemish government and is a collaboration between Ghent university, KU Leuven, VITO and ILVO. Ten different waste streams, including, chicory roots, tomato and leak leaves peels will be studied for their insecticidal, bacterial, fungal, nematicidal, and plant growth promoting effect. The project is coordinated by Professor Danny Geelen. The Bio2Bio project will start in 2017 and lasts 4 years.
