From a historical point of view the Laboratory of Chemical Analysis has more than 35 years of experience in the analysis of residues in matrices of animal origin. In recent years, this general sphere of activity has been expanded to emerging contaminants and bioactive food constituents within the farm to fork approach applicable for food safety and quality in the European Union. In this context, a broad spectrum of mass spectrometry based detection methods are developed, optimized and validated in collaboration with other research groups and universities at the national level and abroad. In particular targeted multi-compound approaches and untargeted metabolomic profiling and fingerprinting are developed and applied.
