Basic and advanced linear regression models in health sciences

Abstract

In this course, we will start with the basic concept of linear regression, slowly expanding the model with single level data and normally distributed outcomes, to models with multiple level data and non-normally distributed outcomes (e.g. gamma). The focus of the course will be twofold. In the first part of each lesson, the theoretical background and some basic principles of the different models will be explained.  In the second part of each lesson, application of the different models will be illustrated and practised in R.

Target group

Members of the Doctoral School of Life Sciences and Medicine and Members Doctoral School of Social and Behavioural Sciences.

Level

The target audience are PhD students in health sciences with limited knowledge of basic statistics (i.e. those who have had a statistical course in their bachelor or master, and wants to build further on the basic knowledge already obtained). They should have a basic knowledge of the R software package.
