THE VIRTUAL JOB MARKET FOR YOUNG RESEARCHERS (22 June-3 July; live day on 25 June)

Whether you are looking for the job of your dreams or just want to explore new career options, the VIRTUAL JOB MARKET FOR YOUNG RESEARCHERS (22 June – 3 July, live day on 25 June), co-organised by the 5 Flemish universities, is thé place to get started!

The following 5-step REACT process will help you prepare for success:

1. Register

Participation in the online career event is free of charge; but registration is compulsory

2. Explore

As of 22 June you will be able to take a virtual tour around the fair and visit the booths of the participating companies and organisations, allowing you to do your homework ahead of time and to put together a wish-list of employers and advisers you would like to chat with on the live day (25 June).

3. Act

Update (and proofread!) your CV and upload it to your account so it is accessible to the employers and recruiters you will meet on the live day (25 June). Do also bring your LinkedIn account up to date.

4. Chat

On 25 June, between 09:00 and 17:00, you will be able to interact directly with employers and advisers, in group and/or one-on-one text-based conversations. You may also be invited to a video chat. Have a concise elevator pitch ready. Type it out ahead of time, so you can easily copy and paste it during the chat sessions. Do also type out questions you want to ask recruiters and advisers.
On 25 June you will be able to attend a wide range of career-focused webinars exclusively targeted at PhD candidates and postdocs. The full webinar programme will be released on 22 June.

5. Thank

After the live day – through to 3 July – it will be possible to further research the companies and organisations partaking in the virtual fair. Do also use this time to send thank you notes to everyone who took the time to talk to you. It will impress them and keep your name and CV at the top of their mind.
