Marc Delghust (1985) graduated as a ‘master in engineering: architecture’ (UGent, 2008 magna cum laude) with a master thesis on the optimization of lowered ceilings for night-ventilated offices. During his studies, he did internships at the architecture and engineering office Bureau Bouwtechniek (Antwerp, 2005-2006) and familiarised himself with the field of restoration and renovation at Universitá degli Studi di Roma Tor Vergata (Rome, 2006-2007).

From 2008 to 2009, he worked as an architect at Alexis Versele Architectenvennootschap (Ghent).

Since 2008, he has been working at the Building Physics Group of Ghent University, doing research mainly on retrofit cavity-wall insulation, thermal bridges, energy use in dwellings and user behaviour. He also conducts consultancy work and educational tasks.

In 2010, he received a joined PhD-fellowship from the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO) and the Flemish Institute for Technological Research (VITO). He obtained his PhD in 2015 with a dissertation entitled ‘Improving the predictive power of simplified residential space heating demand models: a field data and model driven study’.
