From Case-by-Case to Scalable Solutions: Typology Approaches in Historical Building Renovation

(09-10-2025)

HeriTACE, in collaboration with the project sister FuturHist, will contribute as a side event to the European Week of Regions and Cities 2025 with the session: From Case-by-Case to Scalable Solutions: Typology Approaches in Historical Building Renovation

The European Commission has set the target of renovating 35 million buildings by 2030 as part of the journey towards climate neutrality by 2050. Historic buildings pose particular challenges, requiring solutions that improve energy performance while safeguarding cultural value.

This session will present a typology-based approach to renovation, highlighting the importance of scalable, replicable solutions in historic urban contexts. Experts and municipalities will share perspectives on how to future-proof Europe’s built heritage in line with the New European Bauhaus principles.
