La Colonie - Architecture and Ethics


Lectures & film projections in the context of Kader Attia’s project La Colonie

After the solo-exhibition Repairing the Invisible, artist Kader Attia will occupy the SMAK on Sunday October 15th with his project La Colonie, a “space for free and independent thought”. During the afternoon, a reflection is initiated on the theme of ‘Architecture and Ethics’ via a series of lectures and film projections. Architectural historian Richard Klein (Lille) will discuss with Kader Attia the work of architect Roland Simounet in Algiers, while Johan Lagae (UGent) will give a lecture on ‘Housing policy in Congo under colonial rule and the afterlife of its legacy’
