ELIS Masterstudents win Ie-net prize for Masterthesis: Algorithm for business plan development for a new medical device.

(12-12-2017) On the 23rd of November 2017, 43 young engineers competed for the ie-net prizes 2017, the prize for best master thesis in engineering sciences.

Winnaar Ie-net prijzen

In the engineering category all the winners were represented by students of our faculty and in the industrial engineering category one of the three.

Simon Popelier & Jeff Maenhout, former students of ELIS won first prize for the Masterthesis: Algorithm for business plan development for a new medical device. (Supervisor: Prof. ir. Pascal Verdonck)

Purpose of this Master Dissertation is to design a prediction algorithm whereby factors as degree of innovation, risk analysis for the technical product life cycle, the health economical complexity of repayment, finding investors and other important aspects are implemented. Furthermore, this should lead to a quantitative representation of the succes rate to develop an idea into a new medical device which will actually be implemented into or used by the patient.
This thesis is in cooperation with MedTech Flanders, which provides the specifical knowledge of startup companies in the medical-technology sector.

Congratulations to both Engineers!
