The HOBBIT-project (IMEC/IDLab): Holistic Benchmarking of Big Linked Data

(19-03-2018) HOBBIT is a H2020 European project dat zich toelegt op Holistische Benchmarking van Big Linked Data.

Big Data is one of the key assets of the future. However, the cost and effort required for introducing Big Data technology in a value chain is significant. Mastering the creation of value from Big Data will enhance European competitiveness, will result in economic growth and jobs and will deliver societal benefit. A key step towards abolishing the barriers to the adoption and deployment of Big Data is to provide European companies with open benchmarking reports that allow them to assess the fitness of existing solutions for their purposes.

The HOBBIT project not only helps European companies assess solutions for their purposes, it also supports the scientific community in research and development of big data benchmarking methods, tools and algorithms.

As a consortium partner IMEC/IDLab contributes to the community building around the project focusing on academic, solution providers and technology users, as well as develops a strategy for establishing a HOBBIT association. On the technical side, IMEC/IDLab contributes to the mimicking algorithms and data generators for benchmarking solutions in the domain of:

  • public transport data and network generation,
  • parking availability detection
  • and live time series for cost effective publishing/consuming purposes.
