Marijn Verbeke wins 3rd prize at the IEEE Solid State Circuits Benelux Chip Design Contest

(05-06-2018) Marijn Verbeke (IDLab) won the 3rd prize at the IEEE Solid State Circuits Benelux Chip Design Contest for his chip entitled "A 1.8-pJ / b, 12.5-25-Gb / s wide range of all-digital clock and data recovery circuit ".

Such a "clock and data recovery circuit" is an important part of an optical communication system. The contribution of Marijn Verbeke makes it possible to create this part largely in the digital domain, while such circuits used to be realized completely analogously.

As a result, the power consumption of the chip can be greatly reduced.

His promoters were Guy Torfs (IDLab) and Pieter Rombouts (ELIS-CAS). The prize was awarded in Leuven on 22 May 2018.

Congratulations!
