Patricia Khashayar awarded 'best Iranian scientist in medicine under 45'.

(28-02-2018) In Tehran on Feb. 4th 2018, Patricia Khashayar was awarded as the 'best Iranian scientist in medicine under 45' (who has secured many grants in the past years)

 Patricia is a medical doctor with more than 15 years of experience in the field of bone health and osteoporosis. Until recently, she was the executive manager of Osteoporosis Research Center, affiliated with Tehran University of Medical sciences, where she focused on different aspects of osteoporosis. Three years ago Patricia joined Ghent University, at the Centre for Microsystems Technology (CMST) of the department of Electronics and Information Systems​, where she first obtained her PhD degree in biomedical engineering, and subsequently was granted a 2-year postdoc innovation mandate from VLAIO. She also co-manages the EU funded H2020 - PoCOsteo project for which UGent/CMST serves as the coördinator. She is taking an interest in biosensors and microfluidic devices and combines this with her knowledge and experience in medical science to develop a cost-effective PoC (Point-of-Care) proteomic sensor for the early detection and treatment of bone diseases and osteoporosis.
