Power Systems
The research of EELAB includes various aspects of transmission and distribution of electrical energy.
Power quality in distribution networks is one of the main topics, viz power electronic devices for improving the power quality and simulation of distribution networks with nonlinear elements (loads, generators and transformers). The interaction of grid connected converters and the utility grid, with respect to harmonics, dips, etc., is studied in detail.
The integration of renewable energy sources and distributed generation is another important topic. It mainly concerns the design, analysis and prototyping of advanced grid interfaces for the grid connection of small-scale converter-based distributed generation applications. At first instance, photovoltaic systems and small wind and water turbines are considered.
