(28-01-2019) Researchers at the department of Structural Engineering have printed at lab scale a bridge with the smallest possible amount of concrete.

Shape optimization was combined with an optimal trajectory of the steel cable at the bottom of the bridge to minimize stress peaks. Such balanced combination of material use and stress might be the most promising perspective of the 3D print technology and has hardly been demonstrated.
